A silver trompe l'oil cigar box, gilt interior, engraved with tobacco marks and exhibition prize medals for H. Upmann. Pavel Akimov Ovchinnikov, marked with the Imperial Warrant as purveyor to the Imperial Russian Court, assayer Victor Savinkov 1874, Moscow town mark, 84 standard. Weight 688 g. H. 6 cm. W. 13 cm. D. 12 cm.

Provenance: The Danish engineer Ivar Knudsen (1861–1920). As the director of the ship building yard B&W, he led the development of the M/S Selandia, which was the most advanced diesel-powered vessel of that time. He travelled with the ship to present it in different countries, also in Russa, where he acquired this present cigar box. Thence by descendants, with residence in Denmark, until today.
