“Uden titel (Regnskov)” (Untitled - Rain Forest), 1980. Signed on the reverse P.K. 82. Oil on canvas. 202×240 cm.

The painting is registered in Galerie Michael Werner's archive under no. PK 62.

Literature: Ane Hejlskov Larsen: “Per Kirkeby Malerier 1978–1989”, Copenhagen 2015, nr. M 428, reproduced p. 363.

Exhibited: Per Kirkeby and Bjørn Nørgaard, Venice Biennale, 1980 (label on the stretcher; 529). Exhibited: “Per Kirkeby”, Ordrupgaardsamlingen, Ordrupgaard, Copenhagen 1981, reproduced p. 22. Exhibited: “Momente der Klarheit. Janus la Cour und das neue Bild der Natur”, 17 november 2024–22 June 2025. Exhibited: “Janus la Cour. Stilhed”, Nivågaards Malerisamling 23 August 2025–4 January 2026, reproduced in the catalogue p. 104 and mentioned p. 99. The exhibition brings together Janus la Cour's works with selected paintings by the artist, the geologically trained Danish painter and sculptor, Per Kirkeby (1938–2018). Kirkeby admired la Cour and owned three la Cour paintings himself, which are also included in the exhibition.

The title of the painting comes from the artist himself, according to the “billedbogen”, archive no. 9c.5, Per Kirkeby's archive at ARoS Kunstmuseum, Aarhus, 2014. It is not clear whether or not Per Kirkeby has interpreted this title as the painting's title, as a reference to a study or as an association after its creation.
