The Belgian sculptor Josuë Dupon who made the medal actually won a bronze medal himself in the art competitions of the Olympic Games for his equestrian medals.
The obverse show a Victorious athlete bringing back the palm of victory while a personification of Fame is blowing her horn in the background.
The reverse depicts the monument of Antwerp commemorating the legend of Braba, the killer of the Giant who terrorised the river, standing out against the Cathedral and port of Antwerp.
