Marinus Nielsen (b. Læsø Island 1882, d. 1971)
A woman from Laesoe in trditional dress. Signed with monogram. Oil on canvas. 49×46 cm.
A quote from the website of Laesoe Museum: “Museumsgården, or Lynggården, is an out door museum situated in its original site. With its enourmous silver grey seaweed roof, it is one of the few examples of the seaweed farms, very common earlier on in Laesoe - and now only to be found in Laesoe. Historic sources tell us of people living, ”On the Heath“ (In Danish “På Lynget“ ) from the 1630´es, and the farm was inhabited until 1949, by Sine Krogbæk. Sine didn't alter the rooms much, hence the furniture is still in place, as it was, when her parents took over the farm around 1860; complete with open hearths, alcoves, without electric light, and with a well in the farm yard.”
A few retouches.
