A set of five French and Royal Rococo revival silver-gilt jelly spoons, asymmetrical handle in the shape of rocailles and casted with flowers and foliage, engraved with the crowned monogram of Prince Harald and Princess Helena of Denmark. Gustav Keller et Frères) in Paris 1881–1922, fineness 950. Weight 150 g. L. 13.7 cm.

A pair of silver Old Norse style salt cellars, gilt interior, with glass inserts and a pair of associated salt spoons, first-mentioned engraved with the crowned monogram of Prince Harald and Princess Helena of Denmark. Prince Harald af Danmark (1876–1849) was son of King Frederik VIII and Queen Lovisa. He married in 1909 with Princess Helena of Glücksburg (1888–1962). The above mentioned silver cutlery can presumable refer to their wedding as presents.

Provenance: King Frederik VIII (1843–1912) and Queen Lovisa of Denmark (1851–1926); then their son and daughter-in-law, King Christian X (1870–1947) and Queen Alexandrine of Denmark (1879–1952); thence by their son and daughter-in-law, Hereditary Prince Knud (1900–1976) and Hereditary Princess Caroline-Mathilde of Denmark (1912–1995); then their daughter, Princess Elisabeth of Denmark (1935–2018). Before her death the silver cutlery were given to private Danish ownership, which they have been until today.

Condition

Jelly spoons: Minimal wear due to age and use. Salt cellars and -spoons: Minor wear due to age and use plus spots and verdigris (which can removed/polished by a silversmith). Box with wear, e.g. peelings.
