A Russian shashka, the horn grip with a large silver pommel, decorated with niello-work in the shape of flowers and foliage, the single blade is 80 cm long with fullers on each side, one side a flat surface with a star shaped tughra in the form of a star-shaped Arabic mark, the wooden scabbard is wrapped in black leather with four silver mounts, on the front decorated with niello-work in the shape of flowers and foliage, smooth reverses. Second half of the 19th century.
Provenance: Helge Brøns Hansen's Weapon Collection, acquired by Ivan Jørgen Dardecker (1932–2019), as part of his weapon collection, and his descendants until today.
