Painter unknown, 18th century
A pair of portraits presumably of members of the Bernstorff family. A noblewoman in a blue silkdress trimmed with brocade and a nobleman in armour. Unsigned. Oil on canvas. 83×65 cm. (2).
She verso inscribed: die Frau geheimte Kriges Rähtin von Steinberg. gb. von Bernstorff des alten Geheimten Rahts Tohter.
Provenance: Bruun Rasmussen auction 198, 1966 no. 198.
She: Three minor tears (c 1 cm) on the left and a few repairs. Both: Minor crackles and a few minor peelings. A mark along the stretcher. In need of cleaning and tightening.
