Nicolai Vasilievich Alexeev (, Moscow)

A Russian silver and cloisonné enamel sugarbowl, body with oval bosses, mounted with handle. Nicolai Vasilievich Alexeev, assayer Ivan Sergeieivich Lebedkin in Moscow 1896–1908, 88 standard. Weight c. 316 g. H. 7 cm. / 14 cm. Diam. 12.5 cm.

Provenance: The married couple Nadia Lindemann, née Borodina (b. Vladivostok 1898, d. Frederiksberg 1982) and Georg Emanuel Lindemann (b. Copenhagen 1896, d. Frederiksberg 1991). He worked as a telegraph operator for The Great Northern Telegraph Company and met his wife in the area around Vladivostok, where they married and settled. In the late 1930s, they moved to Denmark, bringing among others this sugar bowl with them. Thence by descents to their granddaughter with residence in Denmark until today.

On the attached photograph you see the elderly Georg Emanuel Lindemann in the home of the married couple in Denmark. The above mentioned sugar bowl is seen to the left of Lindemann under the lamp.

Condition

Minimal wear due to age, including minimal enamel chips. Bottom with scratched names and numbers.
