Bahne Bonniksen (Bov, Sønderjylland 1860 - England 1935). A Danish watchmaker and inventor who moved to England as a 24-year-old and obtained English citizenship in 1910. Bonniksen was a great admirer of the tourbillon invented by Abraham-Louis Breguet around 1795. Bonniksen set out to develop a watch that was as robust and reliable as a normal anchor watch but with the precision of the tourbillon. In 1892, he developed the “Carousel”, which he received a patent for in 1906. The carousel was both more practical and cheaper than the tourbillon invented by Breguet.
