The series “Flash - November 22, 1963” (1968) is originally a folder with 11 silkscreen prints made in a total edition of 226 copies with motifs related to the assassination of J. F. Kennedy. However, only 10 of these folders included three different additional prints, of which the present red-blue portrait is probably the most iconic. This is thus an extremely rare print in an unusually small edition for Andy Warhol. The motif has not been offered publicly in recent times.

The art collector Axel P. Nielsen is also known by the name “Farve-Peter” (Colour Peter). He had a paint shop on Amagerbrogade in Copenhagen. Through personal friendships with the Danish surrealist Wilhelm Freddie and Fluxus artists such as Arthur Köpcke, Nam June Paik and Niki de Saint-Phalle, he bought and traded for a large and rich collection of art from the 1960s and 70s. The entire collection was bought by manufacturer Søren Mygind, who then in 1986 donated the majority of the collection to Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum (The North Jutland Art Museum) in Aalborg. However, this work by Andy Warhol remained in the family's possession.
