Lucania, Sybaris, c. 530–510 BC, Third Nomos, SNG ANS 847 ff, HN Italy 1736, 2.48 g - an excellent strike and a lovely patina

The inhabitants of Sybaris was so know for their hedonistic escesses that the word “sybarite” became a byword for outrageous pleasure-seeking. In 510 BC the city fell to the Crotones.
