January 6, 1927 Louis Aragon joined the Communist Party which he considered being the most important step in his life. André Breton and Paul Eluard followed him later the same month, and together with their surrealist art colleagues Benjamin Péret and Pierre Unik they published as defend for the joinment “Au Grand Jour”. As well known he dissociated from the communism in 1968 which he now described as “inhuman and anti-intellectual”.
