The Imperial Count Gerhard (1668–1740), now answering to the name of v. Dernath, was a Gottorpian lieutenant general and statesman. He won the favour of King Frederik IV and acted as a mediator between the warring parties during the Great Northern War. His son Gerhard (1700–1759) was vice-chancellor and president of the Exchequer in Gottorp.
