Certina was founded in Grenchen, Switzerland by brothers Adolf and Alfred Kurth in 1888 under the name Kurth Frères SA. The company grew at an incredible pace during the next decades, winning multiple exhibitionary awards for their excellent quality. In 1958, Certina introduced their Double Security model, which became an instant success, making the company one of the leading watch brands in Europe.
