Mikhail Maximov Kluchin (, Moscow)

A Russian Baroque silver beaker, chased and embossed with stylized foliage, stag and a dog. Mikhail Maximov Kluchin, assayer Anisim Kusmin (1741–1748), Moscow town mark. Weight c. 94 g. H. 8.8 cm. Diam. 7.2 cm.

Provenance: The Danish Envoy and Consul General Hans Poul Hoffmeyer (1893–1962). Secretary of Legation in Vienna, Berlin, Moscow and Warzaw in the 1920s, later Counsellor of the Legation in Berlin, Paris, Turkey, Israel and Greece, and finally Consul General in Hamburg from 1954. Hoffmeyer's interest in collecting silver was pervasive and he acquired items in all the cities he lived. Thence by descent with residence in Denmark, until today.

Condition

Minimal wear due to age and use, including minor dents on the bottom rim.
