James Irwin (b. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 1930, d. Glenwood Springs, Colorado 1991, astronaut)
An original NASA b&w offset photolandingsgraph from the Apollo 15 Mission in July/August 1971. In the picture astronaut David R. Scott (b. 1932) can be seen peparing the mission's moon car, the Lunar Roving Vehicle. In the background the 4,000 meter high Hadley Delta. Black painted woioden frame with acid-free passe-partout. Apollo 15, the fourth Moon landing within the Apollo program, was launched from Florida on July 26, 1971 and reached the lunar surface on July 30. Only two of the astronauts, however, David Scott and James Irwin, took part in the actual landing, while Alfred Worden remained in lunar orbit. On August 7, 1971 the three men returned unharmed to the Earth.
