915/830

Finn Juhl, attributed (b. Frederiksberg 1912, d. Ordrup 1989)

Solid teak table / bench mounted on tapering legs. Perforated top with squares. Made approx. 1948 by cabinetmaker Niels Vodder. H. 43 cm. L. 139.5 cm. W. 40 cm.

Provenance: Professor Alf Ross. Hence by descent in the family. According to present owner, the granddaughter of Alf Ross, the bench has always been in the house of the grandparents. A house that was furnished with Finn Juhl pieces in 1948 including the coffee table on lot no. 830. The bench is characterized by the criss-cross slats on the top, which while not often seen in Juhl’s furniture it can be found in a unique table he designed in 1947 for the dentist Mr. Ravn, just to illustrate it was not foreign to him. Most typical is however the form of the legs that follow Finn Juhls characteristic twist of holding a straight outer line and a curved or tilted inner side. This can be seen again and again in his tables; the FJ 41, FJ 44, The Ravn table, etc. and also in his well known coffee table FD 532 in solid teak for France & Son.
