Anna Ancher (b. Skagen 1859, d. s.p. 1935)

“Læsende gammel kone”. An old woman reading. 1896. Signed in plate A. A. 96 Op. 1. Etching on paper. Plate size 18.5 × 14.5 cm. Sheet size 30×25 cm.

Presumably the only and until now unknown trial print of Anna Ancher's Opus 1 - her only etching. The present one printed on simili-Japan paper with traces of/marks from the etching needle and the etching in the plate around the motive. The final print without the traces from the etching needle etc., was published in the journal KUNST in a large edition.

Condition

The paper has turned slightly brown. A vertical fold in the right side outside the plate. Verso a few discolourations.
