Winston Churchill's visit to the Danish embassy coincided with his 75th birthday on the same day - November 30, 1949 - making the occasion particularly memorable for those invited. Clement Attlee, seen next to Frederik IX, had served in Churchill's war cabinet from 1940–1945 and succeeded him as British Prime Minister in the summer of 1945, a post he held until 1951, when the Conservative Party, led by Churchill, regained power.
This is an original b/w silver gelatin press photograph from 1949, which appears with a corner crease in the lower right corner. Surface with 'fingers'. In addition, common handling marks.
