An Afshar tribal fleat embroidered rug, South Persia. Flowerheads in lattice design. Mid-20th century. 170×230 cm.
Eftersyn fra 6.5/preview from 6 may.
A private collection of Persian nomad carpets from a resident Iranian, great-grandson of the leader of the Afshar tribe, Ghonjali Khan Afshar, who lived in the castle shown in the picture, built in the mid-18th century. The castle is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is located near the city of Baft in the southern part of Kerman province. He has lived with his Danish wife in Denmark for over 40 years.
He has collected these Afshar and Qashgai textiles for over 60 years. Most of the Afshar textiles come from the area within 100 km of the castle, and the Qashqai textiles from Shiraz and the surrounding area in Fars province, where the couple lived for 8 years. The collection consists of antique and old carpets, kilims, jajims, saddle bags, salt bags, bags, bag covers, spice bags, and maalband (straps for securing luggage on camels or donkeys).
Minor worn fringes. Stains from white material.
