She mentions this painting as one of the first Dankvart Dreyer painted in the national romantic manner with “afvekslende Skove, Sletter, Søer og jævnt skraanende Bakker” (forests alternating with plains, lakes and sloping hills). Suzanne Ludvigsen also mentions professor J. L. Lund who tought his students, among them Dreyer, to create ideal Danish landscape paintings with scenic beauty using what is typical in the Danish countryside. The present painting lives up to that ideal.

Dankvart Dreyer's mandatory drawing for this painting ordered by Kunstforeningen is today owned by Fuglsang Kunstmuseum.
