On March 21, 1965, 3,200 Americans began a peaceful, four-day march from Selma to Montgomery in the state of Alabama. The purpose of the march, led by civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr (1929–1968), was to expose the blatant racial discrimination that was still practiced in most of the United States at the time, but especially in the South, and to create change.
This is an original b/w silver gelatin press photograph, which shows a large stain on its back. Furthermore normal signs of age and wear.
