Astrid Kruse Jensen's photographs are conceived in the cracks between the real and the unreal – or sometimes even in surreal, dreamlike images. Kruse Jensen’s use of the photographic medium and its processes evokes intriguing multilayered scenes giving us a glimpse into this landscape between memories and facts – dream and reality.

The series “Hypernatural” depicts night scenes of outdoor swimmingpools on Iceland. The photographs were made with a long exposure time giving the image a high saturation of colour and a distinct expressiveness, only visible in the art work – not in real life – thus creating an alternate narrative. Her series “Construction of Memories” takes it a step further towards the unreal with dreamlike features.

Kruse Jensen’s works have been exhibited at numerous international venues and are now in the collection of e.g. The George Eastman House, USA; AROS, Aarhus Kunstmuseum, Aarhus, Denmark and The National Museum for Photography, Copenhagen, Denmark.
