Godfred Christensen was admitted to The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1860 and simultaneously studied under the landscape painter F. C. Kiærschou (1805–1891). During his time at the Academy, he received several awards for his work, and in 1873, he was granted a two-year travel scholarship, which he used to travel to Germany and later Italy, where he stayed from 1873 to 1875. In Italy, Christensen primarily stayed in Rome but also traveled to Naples and Capri, where some of his most popular Italian motifs originated.
The paper has turned yellow. Minor damp discolourations. Minor tears along the edges along with minor paper loss in corners. Leftovers from tape on the reverse.
