Portrait of Christiane Elisabeth Birgitte Kaas, née Juul (1742–1796), married to admiral F. Chr. Kaas of Fraugdegaard. Unsigned. Inscribed on the reverse “Admiral Kaas's Hustru, født Juul” (The wife of Admiral Kaas). Oil on canvas. 34×26 cm.

Ellen Poulsen, A Catalogue Raisonné of the Works of Jens Juel, no. 627 (a similar portrait in pastel). Here, the present painting is mentioned (in Danish): “A repetition of this pastel was sold at ABR auction 141, 1962 (Ingeborg Løvenskiold-Løvenborg), cat. nr. 10, as Christiane Elisabeth Birgitte Kaas née Juul (1742–1796) [...]”.

A few minimal retouches and tiny peelings. Marks from the stretcher visible on the front. In need of cleaning. Crackles
