Portrait of the painter I.D. Frisch. Signed V.R. Oil on panel. 27.5×20.5 cm.
Johan Didrik Frisch (1835–1867) was considered one of the promising young artists of the Golden Age and received the Academy's travel grant. Unfortunately, the trip came to an abrupt end when he and fellow painter L.A. Schou (1838–1867), after a stay in Florence, tragically died on their way to Rome after contracting typhus and cholera.
