I Biografisk Leksikon, bind XIV, 1943 s. 26 nævnes flere portrætter af Thorvaldsen udført af Christian Hornemann med følgende beskrivelse: “I 1819 og 20 har Chr. Horneman udført Pasteller af T. (mindre Fadermordere og hvid Halsklud) (T.s Museum, Fr.borg, Bergen) I den Række Billeder Horneman gennem Tiden malede er Hovedtrækkene de samme om end Haaret graaner mere og mere”. (In the 1819 and 20 Horneman has produced several pastels of T).
