Danish painters, 19th century

Two architectural drawings - presumably for The Royal Theatre and The National Gallery of Denmark. Unsigned. One inscribed with an indistinct name. Drawing ink and watercolour on paper laid on paper. Sheet sizes c. 40×31 cm. (2).

The present drawings were possibly submitted for the architecture competition in regards to the reconstruction of The Royal Danish Theatre in the middle of the 19th century. This task was finally given to Vilhelm Dahlerup and Ove Petersen, and the new theatre was inaugurated in 1874.

The paper has turned slightly brown. Discolourations. Losses, holes, and tears. Fold-marks. Examined in frame.
