Margrethe Lehmann, daughter of the Danish politician, Orla Lehmann, was a writer and deeply involved in the womens liberation movement. After her second marriage (to the Norwegian reporter, Erik Vullum) she became active in the Norwegian womens liberation movement.

A detail of the present painting adorns the cover of the biography “En Frigørelseshistorie, Margrethe Vullum, 1846–1918” (A history of liberation, Margrethe Vullum, 1846–1918) written by Hanne Engberg, published in 1994.

Condition

A few minimal pressuremarks with minimal peelings and minimal retouches. Minor crackles. In need of a light surface cleaning and tightening.
