Edward Fraas (f. 1837, d. 1972, fotograf i Dansk Vestindien)

12 photographs from The Danish West Indies, c. 1911–1912, Mostly by Edward Frass. The collection includes photographs of the main street of Charlotte Amalie, The Police Station, Emancipation Garden, Grand Hotel, Det Beltjen's Road, Long Way, The Danish Church, The Danish Export Trading Company, the harbour, the guvenor's residence and a portrait of the book keeper Anders Valstrøm. C-prints, mounted on boards with blindstamped photographer's mark. All framed in uniform frames and with descriptions mounted on verso. Various sizes, smallest 7,7×5 cm, largest 11,8×16 cm. (12)

The photographs are from the book keeper Anders Valstrøm from The Danish Export Company. He was in The Danish Westindies for a year from 1911–1912. His biography and description of his experinces have been digitalized by his grandson and are available online in Danish: goo.gl/qPYTPJ
