A very rare Danish privately bought silver-plated officers’ broadsword after the pattern of 1772 with a round pommel, a square grip wrapped in leather and bound with braided silver wire, the shell has the large Danish coat of arms held by wild men and with the order of the elephant. The single-edged c 88.5 cm long blade is decorated on each side with the small Danish coat of arms.

Originally 12 of these broadswords were made in solid silver for the Royal Horse Guards. These were state property but a very small number in silver-plated brass exist today.
