Original b/w press photograph of Brazilan football player Pelé (Edson Arantes do Nascimento; 1940–2022) during a training session around 1959. Back with agency stamp, restriction stamp and remains of glued-on news telegram. Green painted wooden frame with double glazing. Visible size 16×21 cm. Frame size 29×34 cm.
Pelé achieved worldwide fame thanks to his unique talents on the soccer field—he won three FIFA World Cups with Brazil (1958, 1962, 1970), more than anybody else—but also because of his human qualities, which have made him legendary even outside of 'Joga Bonito' ('the beautiful game').
This is an original b/w silver gelatin press photograph from ca. 1959, which appears with tiny moisture surface spots. Lower left corner creased. Has yellowed.
