Arne Jacobsen (b. Copenhagen 1902, d. s.p. 1971)
Prototype chair with moulded plywood seat and back, mounted on chromed steel swivel frame. Designed and manufactured 1966 by Fritz Hansen, with maker's paper label.
Present chair was included in the exhibtion “Arne Jacosen designing Denmark” at Trapholt Museum 2020.
The chair is a prototype that was either intended for the interiors of St Catherine´s College in Oxford, or can be seen as a proposal that originated from the chair models designed for the college. Models that later were adapted for serial production at Fritz Hansen as the Oxford series
Light patina due to age and use including minor scratches and marks. Seat height adjustable. One rubber fitting under seat with crack.
