Inscribed by Karl Madsen on the reverse (in Danish): “That this picture is painted by J. Th. Lundbye and identical to the painting listed as No. 6 in my catalogue raisonné of the artist's works, I hereby certify”. Signed and dated Karl Madsen Febr. 1916.
