Ivan Petrov Shilin (, Veliky Ustyug 1798)

A Russian Neoclassical silver and nielloed tabatière, of circular form, gilt interior, lid with a landscape, bottom with a fruit and flower arrangement, both with acanthus borders, complimented by flowers in cartouches on the side. Ivan Petrov Shilin, assayer Alexei Ivanov Torlov 1798, Veliky Ustyug town mark. Weight c. 78 g. H. 1.6 cm. Diam. 6.3 cm.

Provenance: The Danish Envoy and Consul General Hans Poul Hoffmeyer (1893–1962). Thence by descent with residence in Denmark, until today.
