A large Norwegian silver samovar, of baluster shape, chased and engraved with leaf and berry friezes, the cover with cast leaf bud finial, two leaf-clad scroll handles, dolphin-shaped spout with carved wood spigot, circular domed base. Base rim engraved “Til Amtmand Greve A. Trampe fra Indvaanere i hans Embedsdistrikt 1857” (To County Governor Count A. Trampe from the inhabitants of his district office 1857). Maker Jacob Ulrich Holfeldt Tostrup, Christiania 1856. Weight 4034 g. H. 52 cm.

Provenance: Adam Johan Frederik Poulsen Trampe, Count of Trampe (Copenhagen 1798 - Trondheim 1876). Danish-Norwegian Count, Norwegian lawyer and County Governor in Nordlands Amt (1829–1833) and Nordre Tronhjems Amt (1833–1857). Thence by descent in the family.
