Unknown photographer: “Favorite Outfit for Churchill”. An original English black-and-white press photograph of Winston Churchill wearing a siren suit and holding a cigar in his left hand. Back with news telegram from International News Photo, New York. Furthermore stamp concerning rights. Front with cropping directions. Dated February 1st 1953. Photo size 23×17.5 cm. Frame size 43×33 cm.

Despite the fact that Winston Churchill had numerous uniforms and suits to his disposal he often prefered to wear one of the siren suits, which his taylor in Saville Row - Henry Poole & Co. - had made for him. And not only on private occasions, yet also when carrying out official tasks he could sometimes be seen in this relaxed and very comfortable outfit. It is not likely that other men could have allowed themselves this periodic rejection of conventional dressing.

Condition

This is an original English black-and-white photograph from 1953, which shows normal signs of age and handling, including small scratches and a few superficial cracklings. Back slightly yellowed.
