Unknown ophotographer: A reproduction of a b/w photograph of the American author Mark Twain (1835–1910), born as Samuel Langhorne Clemens. The present reproduction is from 1935. Unframed.
The pseudonym “Mark Twain” has it roots in the author's childhood. Together with his family he lived on the low water river Mississipi and here he often heard the sailors shouting “Mark Twain” when measuring the depth. “Twain” is an old word for “two”.
