A Danish Late Empire silver lidded bowl, gilt interior, the cover with lion, berries and a rotating gilt horn, the bowl side engraved with two cartouches with inscriptions informing that the piece was a gift to Niels Thygesen Wigelsen on 19 August 1826, raised on four tall supports with mask and leaf terminals, circular base. Maker Samuel Christopher Hylling Krøyer, Aalborg c. 1826. Weight 649 g. H. 29.5 cm.

The lidded bowl was a present from the Det Borgerlige Jægerkorps in Aalborg (Civil Guard) to it's resigning chief, merchant and consul Niels Wigelsen (1784–1841).

Condition

Minimal wear due to age and use, including few marks, dents and scratches. One berry ornament is missing.
