2645/9136

A Danish Baroque silver spoon, later remodelled as a sauce spoon, flared handle engraved with flowers, rounded terminal, reverse engraved “WRS” and (presumably in Frisian) “Botel Ieses - K. Niessig”. Maker Jürgen Etzmann II, licensed in Tønder 1695–1719, the widow continued the workshop until 1733. Weight 31 g. L. 16 cm.

If the names are Frisian, they can be translated as Bodil Isesdatter - K. Nissen.

Condition

Minor patina related to age and use, including surface scratches and marks to varying degrees. It appears that the shaft and bowl are distinctly joined, but presumably from the two original parts; they have been separated and reassembled when the spoon was remodelled into a sauce spoon with curved shaft and turned-up bowl.
