The Saturn V rocket (Apollo 16) was launched from John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 16th 1972 with the astronauts John Young, Charles Duke and Thomas Mattingly aboard. On April 20th Young and Duke landed in the Descartes Highland with their space craft, while Mattingly remained in orbit aboard the command module Casper.
