Louis Auguste Francois Aumont (b. Copenhagen 1805, d. Frederiksberg 1879)

A pair of portraits of Alexander Hans Frederik Brandt (1806–1859), clergyman on St. Croix (1847–1858), and his wife Camilla Auguste Brandt nèe Bodenhoff (1820–1895). The former signed Aumont, the latter L. Aumont. Both oil on paper/canvas laid on panel. Each 48 × 39 cm. (2).

Louis Aumont painted these portraits on St. Croix.

Provenance: Bruun Rasmussen auction 778, 2007, no. 81, reproduced p. 83, and auction 1936, 2019 no. 106.

Condition

Retouches. In need of cleaning. Numerous crackles. Peelings, primarily along edges.
