Portrait of a noble woman of the Danneskiold-Samsøe family, presumably Nicoline Danneskiold-Samsøe, née Rosenkrantz, (1721–1771) decorated with the order de l'Union Parfaite. Unsigned. Oil on canvas. 68×57 cm. Period frame.

On july 1749 the sitter was married to the Privy Councillor, Count Frederik Christian Danneskiold-Samsøe (1722–1778) of Samsøe, Løvenholm a.o. In 1756 the couple was decorated with the order de l'Union Parfaite, celebrating a perfect marriage.

Provenance: Bruun Rasmussen auction 705, 2002 nr. 1575.

Condition

The canvas is relined. Numerous crackles. In upper left corner a minor hole and at edge a tear, lenght c 3 cm. Two nailholes at lower edge. Retouches and minor peelings. In need of cleaning.
