Jean Louis Benjamin Gros (b. 1793, d. 1870)
A French Louis XVI style mahogany and gilt bronze mounted console dessert with white marble top, front with marquetry door flanked by round corner open shelves. Stamped 'GROS PARIS'. The back stamped with crowned monogram of Frederik VIII and stencilled numbered 'A715'. Late 19th century. H. 102 cm. W. 137 cm. D. 44 cm.
Provenance: King Frederik VIII of Denmark; his son Chrisitan X of Denmark; his son Hereditary Prince Knud of Denmark; his daughter Her Highness Princess Elisabeth to Denmark (1935–2018); her heirs Josephine of Rosenborg, Camilla of Rosenborg and Feodora of Rosenborg.
