Jens Adolf Jerichau (b. Assens 1816, d. Neder Dråby 1883)

A bust of the animal painter William Bottomley (1816–1900). 1845. Signed J. A. Jerichau. Patinated plaster. H. 52 cm.

Jerichau and Bottomley where friends and lived together in Rome from 1839 to 1845. Provenance: The estate of the artist Lorenz Frølich. Another cast from the same estate exists in Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek.

Condition

Minimal mark on the right side at lower edge. A small restored chip on the nose. With patina and minimal traces of wear.
