Mathilde Leth (, 19th century, Danish painter)
Still life with flowers in a krater on a stone sill, in the distance a white manor situated by a lake. Signed and dated M. Leth 1828. Oil on canvas. 82×65 cm.
Not much is known about the artist Mathilde Leth besides her name and her active period. Mathilde Leth does not seem to be represented in any Danish museums, and her works are rarely offered at auction. Her still lifes are similar in style to works by C. D. Fritzsch (1765–1841) and his student Johannes Ludvig Camradt (1779–1849), who both worked with the classic, Dutch flower arrangements in antique vases.
The canvas is relined. Crackles and minor retouches. Minor peelings and nails along edge. The canvas needs a slight tightening.
