A small Chinese export silver tureen and matching dish cast with blooming branches, finial in shape of a twig. Dish raised on four low feet. Hung Chong, Canton & Shanghai, early 20th century. Weight 363 g. Dish L. 15 cm.
Provenance: Director General of the Chinese Postal Service Erik Tollefsen (later named To Lo-sen) 1872–1938. He came to China in 1896 where he was in Customs but later became engaged in the Post Office Services and remained in China until 1932.
Some indentations and wryness. The lid does not close tight.
