This photo-book is one of the most difficult to find of all Andersen's books. It was published in 1866 by the photographer Harald Paetz and probably only issued in a very limited number. The Cotsen Children's Library (part of the Princeton University Library) published a facsimile of the book in 2002 emphasizing its importance: “[”Fotograferede Børnegrupper“] represents the first children's book in the history of photography to be illustrated with photographs of live subjects posed dramatically. An extraordinarily rare book, it remains an astounding and surprising venture between the world-famous writer and an innovative photographer.”
