Pu Yi, China's last emperor - and one of the strangest fates in the global political landscape of the 20th century - under Communist rule (established in 1949) experienced a radical change of heart. Stripped of all power, he gradually began to embrace the ideals of the People's Republic, which in later years was also reflected in the way he dressed. In 1960, Pu Yi, encouraged by the Chinese government, published the autobiography 'From Emperor to Citizen' (Chinese edition).
This is an original b/w silver gelatin press photograph from 1967, which has yellowed severely. Lower left corner with a crease. Furthermore noremal handling signs. No further remarks.
