Emil Fuchs (b. Wien 1866, d. New York 1929)
Portrait of Angelino Artobelli from Saracinesco at 8 years old. Signed and dated E. Fuchs Rom 24/XII 1894 and inscribed: “Angelino Artobelli di Saracinesco di anni 8”. Watercolour, and pastel on paper. Visible size 36.5×29.5 cm.
After receiving the German 'Prix de Rome' in 1891, Emil Fuchs travelled to Rome where he lived from 1891 to 1897.
Provenance: A gift from the artist to H.R.H. the Princess of Wales (Alexandra of Denmark) on her 56th birthday, 1st of December, 1900; a label on the reverse carries her name. Thence, the Danish-British ballet dancer Adeline Genée (1878–1970) and her family until today.
Small white specks on the inside of the glass. Some minor discolouration. Examined in frame.
